RCIA needs your help!

Help Wanted!! The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is evolving into a year-round process. The Sept-May format is no longer the best process to meet the needs of our discerning inquirers. Many are finding their way to the Church throughout the year and desire to learn more about the Catholic faith. We do our best to offer individual instruction, but we believe the offering of a year-round process will benefit all inquirers – and also — the Body of Christ — the Church.

Here’s what we need. Parishioners to -

- Lead the Breaking Open of the Word segment on Sunday mornings.

- Answer inquirers’ questions and lead initial inquiry sessions.

- Lead sessions after the inquiry period to prepare the inquirers to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation).

- Lead sessions following initiation into the Church during the period called Mystagogy.

The RCIA process occurs each Sunday morning starting with the 8am Liturgy. Inquirers are dismissed after the Homily and meet together with a Catechist to Break Open the Word (approximately 30 minutes) – for a further reflection and dialogue about the Sunday’s Scripture readings. After a brief refreshment, the inquirers, who are joined by their sponsors, meet with a Catechist to discuss the selected topic for that day (approximately 1 hour). Everything is completed before the start of the 10:30am Liturgy.

All resource materials are provided so you don’t have to be a trained theologian or a scripture scholar to show witness of your faith to others.

An orientation and training workshop will be provided to those of you interested to learn more about the process. Details will be provided soon. If interested or even curious, please contact the Parish Office at 628-8825 or Gene Gallant at 394-7706 or send an email to him at gallafos@charter.net.
